Last Thursday Digital Forming co-hosted an event with Inition at Inition’s demo studio in Shoreditch, if you were there we hope you had a great evening and if you weren’t, here is a rundown of the event.
The event was highlighting the future of customized retail, the idea of tailoring your on-line and off-line product offering to meet the needs of your customers. In particular, the ability to offer them products that they can customize when they walk off the street into your store.
Digital Forming and Inition were also joined by design company Dovetailed showcasing a range of inventions including a food 3D Printer, and Proxama who were introducing us to their Beacon Technology, both key examples of how adapting to customer needs and interests are key to a successful retail proposition.
After each company presented their technology, the food arrived! Pizza all round while people began to have a play with Inition’s vast range of virtual reality gadgets and gizmos, as well as visiting Digital Forming’s customization kiosk, where visitors were invited to customize their very own Christmas decoration that will be delivered to everyone who took part in time for Christmas.
We spoke with lots of interesting people; from students and lecturers to heads of retail and CEO’s. We think that offering customization in-store (and on-line) can give retailers the edge in their retail experience, drive profits and engage customers in a new way to keep them coming back.
